Meet the Director: Liudmila B. Duston

Mrs. Duston started playing the violin and piano at the age of 9 in her home country, Moldova.  She later learned to play the piano, viola, some cello, wind and folk instruments.

She attended St. Neaga College and G. Musicescu Conservatory in Moldova before moving to the United States to attend Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, Louisiana to earn three music degrees in the process (performance and pedagogy).  Mrs. Duston has performed solo violin works and has played in a youth orchestra, professional chamber, string and symphony orchestras and many types of chamber groups in the former Soviet Union, Moldova, Europe and the United States.  She has also had the privilege of performing in front of a king and a queen, various international dignitaries, and a president of the United States.

Mrs. Duston has taught all levels of students since the mid-1990s.  She has been teaching at Wakeland High School since 2008, in addition to helping Cobb and Griffin Middle Schools.  Under her direction, the Wakeland High School has earned commendable awards while participating in various local, state and national competitions and festivals.

When away from school, Mrs. Duston likes to read, cook, spend time outdoors, go to movies and concerts, spend time at home with family and friends, and travel (although her busy professional schedule prevents her from doing it more frequently).  Additionally, Mrs. Duston loves being part of the string quartet and orchestra at Stonebriar Community Church.

Mr. and Mrs. Duston reside in Frisco and are the proud parents of two handsome sons.
